Japanese Forest Grass
Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola'

Native to the mountainside cliffs of
Mount Hakone Japan. Introduced
into the American gardens by Harold
Epstein. Hakonechloa is a deciduous
grass that grows 12 to 16 inches tall
with a spread of a couple feet.
Leaves are bright yellow with  narrow
green stripes that flush red in fall.
Full sun to partial shade. Moist,
humus rich, well-drained soil. Cut old
stems to the ground in late winter or
early spring. Seldom bothered by
pests or diseases.

False Blue Indigo
Baptisa australis
False blue indigo is a native plant to the Mid-west. This garden
worthy plant has tall spikes of deep blue or shades of blue and also
comes in shades of creamy white. Flowers are lupine like in
appearance, blooming in late spring and early summer. The foliage
is oval, blue-green through out the year. Good for back drop. Very
hardy and drought tolerant. Easy to grow for any gardener.
Can be used in floral arrangements.
